Pitt offense nets 120 yards in loss

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh coach Todd Graham’s “high octane” offense needs a tune-up quickly if the Panthers want to salvage their season.

Utah sacked quarterbacks Tino Sunseri and Trey Anderson six times, bottled up running back Ray Graham and limited Pitt to 120 yards of total offense in a 26-14 victory on Saturday.

“It was embarrassing,” Graham said. “We didn’t execute anything in the passing game at all.”

Pitt’s offensive line never really gave the quarterbacks a chance.

Sunseri and Anderson spent most of the blustery afternoon trying to escape a relentless pass rush that never let the Panthers get going. The duo combined to complete just 9 of 30 passes for all of 50 yards.

“We have to get our quarterbacks some time back there,” said Ray Graham, who was held to a season-low 46 yards. “We have to help them out. All 10 of us have to help them out.”

The junior has been carrying Pitt’s offense most of the season but found it difficult against a Utah defense that swarmed him on nearly every play.
