FOXBURG — More than 400 students will participate in a “Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes” from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School track.

Rufus the Bear with Diabetes will attend the walk to thank all the participants.

The walk, sponsored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, benefits research to find a cure for diabetes and its complications.

Jessica Ferris of Emlenton, a senior at A-C Valley High School, is coordinating the walk in honor of her brother, Archer, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about a year ago.

“Although Archer has adjusted well, having type 1 diabetes is a disease that he will have to deal with 24/7 until a cure is found,” Ferris said.

Over the years the foundation has funded more than $1.6 billion in research.
