Westminster College awarded alumni citations to

David and

Jean Basher Lloyd and

Christopher Martin of Cranberry Township at the annual Citation Celebration reception and dinner Oct. 14.The citations were created to recognize alumni who achieved significant accomplishments in their profession or made meaningful contributions to the community or Westminster.David Lloyd, a 1948 graduate, became a sales representative for the National Cash Register Company following graduation. He and a partner formed Lloyd-Johnson Company, an office supply firm that they sold in 1984. Lloyd has been a partner in K&L Real Estate, KLTF Real Estate and D-J Realty.He has been active in the Butler Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Blind Association, Rotary, American Cancer Society, Symphony Association and was president and co-founder of the Butler Area Landlords Association.Jean Lloyd

, a 1949 graduate, began as a substitute teacher, moving to an instructor’s position at Butler County Community College. From there, she became executive director of the Butler Services on Aging.She has held executive positions in the Junior Women’s Club, Women’s Golf Association and Junior Golf Program. She also participated in the PTA and served as a leader for both the Girl Scouts and the Cub Scouts.Martin, a 1989 graduate, continued his education at the BAI Graduate School of Executive Bank Management at Emory University and the PBA Commercial Lending School at Bucknell University.His career led him from Northwest Consumer Finance to Citizens National Bank, advancing from business development officer to vice president of premier services to senior vice president in charge of sales.Martin also became regional president for Northwest Savings Bank and was responsible for 27 branches.He serves on the boards of the Butler YMCA and Bridgeway Capital’s 504 Loan Program; advocates for his local community parks; participates in events for the American Diabetes Association; and is a coach for youth soccer, football, baseball, softball and basketball.———Woman named Granger of Year

Ann Freehling was named the 2011 Granger of the Year. Freehling has held many different offices in the subordinate and Pomona grange.She helps with many group functions, fundraisers, charities and contests.Freehling is a member of Zion Methodist Church in Sarver.———Three members of the Civil Air Patrol, Composite Squadron 712 of Butler, reached career milestones or received promotions at a ceremony on Sept. 12.

C/SST Bradley Morrison, 17, of Prospect, was promoted to staff sergeant and attained the Wright Brothers Award.

C/2 Lt. Wyatt Steele, 15, of Freeport, achieved the Billy Mitchell Award and earned the rank of 2nd lieutenant.Squad-ron 712 Cmdr.

Kevin Berry of Penn Township was promoted to major and awarded the Grover Loening Award.
