BC3 sweeps during charity
Samantha Sharpless had eight kills Saturday as the Butler County Community College women’s volleyball team defeated Penn Highlands 3-0.
The match, held at the BC3 Fieldhouse, raised $1,935 for the Side-Out Foundation and breast cancer research.
The Pioneers won games by scores of 25-4, 25-14, 25-8 as Chelsea Pallone had seven kills, Julia Kleinfelder six. Jessica Prelec had 23 assists.
BC3 (17-1, 6-1) plays at 6 p.m. today at Beaver County Community College.
Women’s SoccerSlippery Rock University earned its fifth straight win with a 3-0 blanking of Clarion University Saturday.All five wins in the streak have been by shutout.Lucy Hannon opened up the scoring for The Rock (8-3-2, 6-2-2) with her fourth goal in as many games.Dana O’Neill earned the win in goal with her third shutout of the season.
Men’s SoccerThe Rock played to a 1-1 draw against Urbana University Saturday.Zach Hall scored the lone goal for SRU (4-5-1).Clayton Master stopped six shots in goal for The Rock.
Cross-CountryTravis Arrigoni won the individual title as the SRU men’s cross-country team placed second at the SRU Invitational Saturday.Arrigoni topped the field of 141 runners with a time of 26 minutes, 7 seconds on the 8,000-meter Cooper’s Lake Campground course.On the women’s side, Stephanie Case placed sixth as The Rock came in second at the invitational.
