FREEPORT — Among contestants from five counties,

Eunice Arthur, 98, was crowned Ms. Quality Life at the Ms. Quality Life pageant Sept. 27 at Laube Hall in Freeport.Arthur, originally from Bellskill, Scotland, is a resident of West Haven Manor personal care home of Apollo.Arthur danced and played the tambourine to a German Polka for the talent competition.Born in 1913, she came to the United States when she was 11 years old and attended Tarentum High School.Arthur chose her nephew Donald Scott to be her escort.Her prize package included a bouquet of flowers, the official crown and sash, a $100 JC Penney gift card, a lunch outing of her choice, the responsibility of announcing the Quality Life Services Cook-off winner in October and passing her crown on to Ms. Quality Life 2012 next September.Each contestant in the pageant won titles before the event, in their nursing homes of residence.First runner-up was

Butler princess vies at state levelButler County Dairy Princess <B>Sydney Rasp </B>recently attended the Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Pageant.The 55th Pennsylvania Dairy Princess Pageant was held at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel and Convention Center in Camp Hill.Sydney is the daughter of Carin and Charles Rasp of Evans City.Sydney, 17, attends Seneca Valley Senior High School.She is a member of the Butler County 4-H Dairy Club and a member of the Seneca Valley Women's Choir.At the pageant, Sydney received honorable mention for her scrapbook, her poster display and her radio spot.The Tina M. Schultz Memorial Award went to 2010-11 Butler County Dairy Princess <B>Missi DeHart</B>, daughter of Bill and Bonnie DeHart of Evans City.The award is given to the Dairy Princess who is exceptional in representing the Dairy Industry.Missi, along with her court and the Butler County Dairy Promotion Team, completed 887 promotions and traveled about 21,332 miles reaching out to 13,000 school children and adults.———

<B>Rita </B>and <B>Al Lane </B>received the Father John Ayoob Humanitarian Award from The Irene Stacy Community Mental Health Center on Oct. 1 at the Butler Country Club.The Lanes have served the community through their volunteer work for many of Butler's nonprofit organizations, including the United Way, the Dunbar Community Center, the Lighthouse Foundation, the National Alliance on Mental Health, Catholic Charities, the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, the Health and Human Service Council and the Butler Health System.The Lanes' volunteerism ranges from organizing 5K walks and runs, grilling hot dogs for a charity picnic, building playhouses for underserved youths, cooking holidays meals for the needy and collecting food for the food bank.———<B>Elizabeth Matchett Freimuth</B> will be the guest soloist with the Johnson City Tennessee Symphony conducted by Robert Seebacher on Saturday, Oct. 8.Freimuth is the principal French horn player with the Cincinnati Symphony.She is the daughter of Robert and Marilyn Matchett and is a graduate of Seneca Valley High School, The Eastman School of Music and Rice University.———On Sept. 29, the winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club were:First: <B>Barbara Norante, Alan Martin</B>Second: <B>Joe Abrams, Ray Kramer.
