Schlarp

James E. Schlarp, 84, of Portersville, formerly of Mount Oliver, died Wednesday at Kindred Hospital, Beaver.

Born Nov. 16, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Roy and Jesse Robinson Schlarp.

Mr. Schlarp was a member of the St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a flight engineer in Okinawa. Mr. Schlarp was a member of the Zelienople American Legion Post 474 and a former member of the Mount Oliver VFW.

He loved going on family outings, where he enjoyed snow skiing, boating, water skiing and camping. He also enjoyed woodworking, building model airplanes, playing the harmonica, and he was an avid reader.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice M. (Michalek) Schlarp, who he married May 16, 1953; two daughters, Sherie A. (Brian) Bridgeman of Evans City and Linda D. (Harry) Goodall of South Park; and two grandchildren, Kassandra Goodall and Harry “HJ” Goodall.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Violet.
