'Jackets still perfect

Freeport's Lynsey Gugion sets against Valley during the unbeaten Yellowjackets' 3-0 girls volleyball victory Thursday night.

Ashley Sample had 14 kills and 12 service points and Lauren Frazetta 12 kills and 10 points to lead unbeaten Freeport to a 3-0 girls volleyball victory over Valley Thursday night.

The Yellowjackets rolled to a 25-12, 25-9, 25-19 victory over the Vikings.

Megan Sweeny added eight kills and six points and Alexis Schreckengost nine points and five kills for Freeport (6-0), which faces Highlands Tuesday.

A-C Valley 3, Keystone 0 — Alexis Linamen had 17 points and seven digs, Emily Quaill 12 points and 13 assists and Meredith Snyder 10 points, eight kills and seven digs to power the Falcons (3-1) to the 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 win.

Knoch 3, New Brighton 0 — Stephanie Gross tallied 29 assists, Celina Sanks added 23 kills and Jessi Boldy 14 digs to lead the Knights to the 25-14, 25-8, 25-16 triumph,

Butler's Marissa DeCola shot a 38-38-76 at the WPIAL Division I, Section 1 qualifier at Shannopin Country Club on Wednesday. The effort qualifies her for the WPIAL individual championship, to be held Oct. 4 at Longvue Country Club.Qualifying out of Division II, Section II at Hillcrest Country Club were Mars' Alexa Glew (91) and Alexa Titchen (101).
