Anne E. (Callaghan) Schaefer, 77, formerly of Butler Township, died Tuesday at The Willows of Presbyterian Senior Care in Oakmont.

Born Sept. 10, 1933, in Center Township, Beaver County, she was the daughter of Dr. Maximillian (D.D.S.) and Alice Harvey Callaghan.

Anne and her late husband, the Rev. Jerome R. Schaefer, were married for 42 years and were active members of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, where Rev. Schaefer was a deacon.

Anne graduated from Monaca High School in 1952. Before her marriage, she worked as a lab technician at Koppers and as a flight attendant for Capitol Airlines. Later, she worked as a 911 operator for Butler County Emergency Services and as a retail salesperson at the Bon Ton at Clearview Mall.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers, the Cana Club and Marriage Encounter through St. Fidelis Church.

She is survived by seven children, Teresa (James) Parsons of Oakmont, Nancy Schaefer of Pittsburgh, Diane O'Melia of Butler Township, Jerome (Jill) Schaefer Jr. of Overland Park, Kan., Julie (Gary) Orsak of Farmington, N.M., Gregory (Lisa) Schaefer of Overland Park, Kan., and Matthew (Tricia) Schaefer of Butler Township. She also is survived by 19 grandchildren.

Six brothers and sisters remember her lovingly: Mary Franklin of Conneaut Lake, Thomas Callaghan of Center Township, James (Mary Anne) Callaghan of Center Township, Maximillian (Helen) Callaghan of Franklin, Jerome (Barbara) of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Judy Callaghan of Pittsburgh.

<B>SCHAEFER</B> — Friends of Anne E. (Callaghan) Schaefer, who died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy, pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home to recite the rosary.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Church, 718 Franklin Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15221.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
