BC3 women's volleyball improves to 10-0 with tri-match sweep
The Butler County Community College women’s volleyball team won a tri-match Friday at Mercyhurst Northeast, both by 3-0 scores.
The Pioneers defeated the host team 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 and knocked off Penn State-DuBois 25-4, 25-10, 25-12.
Stephanie Eagal had 16 kills for BC3 while Christina Farmer added 15. Jess Prelec had 49 assists and Danielle Lloyd 30 sigs.
BC3 (10-0) opens WPCC play today at Westmoreland Community College.
Women’s Field HockeySlippery Rock University received goals from three different players in a 3-0 blanking of Mercy College.Rebecca Williams, Kaili Simmons and Allison Shade each found the net.The Rock (1-3) used two goalies to preserve the shutout in Alexandra Kirsch and Courtney Lee.
Women’s SoccerStephanie Buckenheimer’s goal with 36 seconds left in regulation tied the score and led to SRU’s 1-1 tie with West Chester.Shelby Ward assisted the tally.Lisa Rodgers played well in net for The Rock (2-1-1, 1-0-1), making two saves in the second overtime.
VolleyballSRU defeated both Shepherd and West Virginia State by 3-0 scores Saturday.Outside hitter Kristy Lake tallied 41 kills, 20 digs and three aces in the six games as The Rock moved to 9-0, the best start in program history.
FootballGrove City College dropped a 27-7 home decision to Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon.Blaine Miller’s 5-yard touchdown run with 4:55 left in the third quarter cut the Wolverines’ deficit to 13-7, but GCC was unable to score again.Seneca Valley grad Dustin Anewalt caught five passes for 35 yards in the defeat.The Wolverines (0-2) will open Presidents’ Athletic Conference play Saturday at home against Westminster. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
