Roy D. “Doc” Turner Jr., 54, of Butler died unexpectedly Tuesday morning in the emergency department of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born April 25, 1957, in Butler, he was a son of Esther (Snow) Turner and the late Roy D. Turner Sr.

A graduate of Butler High School, he worked as a road foreman for Summit Township for the past 30 years.

Doc was a member of the East Butler Fireman's Club. He also was an avid Lernerville race car fan as he owned a modified race car, and his son, Mike, raced it at Lernerville.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth A. (Wilson) Turner, who he married Nov. 9, 1990; his mother, Esther Turner of Butler; two sons, Mike Turner and his companion, Billie Jo Bartley, of Butler and Matt Turner and his wife, Holly, of Evans City; a stepdaughter, Stacey Rees of Butler; a stepson, Dennis Crawford of Bruin; a sister, Susan Rodgers and her husband, Steve, of Butler; and two brothers, Kevin Turner of Cabot and Larry Turner and his wife, Karen, of Fenelton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy D. Turner Sr.

<B>TURNER</B> — Friends of Roy D. “Doc” Turner Jr., who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Don Short of the Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church in Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery, Summit Township.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
