Richard John Barancho, 56, of Cranberry Township passed away unexpectedly Sunday in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital following a series of strokes.

Born Oct. 27, 1954, in Sewickley, he is the son John and Frances (Habazin) Barancho of Hopewell Township, Beaver County.

Richard was a member of the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church in Cranberry Township.

He was a 1972 graduate of Hopewell High School and a 1976 graduate of Penn State University.

He began his marketing and finance career in San Francisco and Newport Beach, Calif. He moved back to the Pittsburgh area in 2001 and currently was employed as a marketing manager for WDVE and Clear Channel Communications.

His passions included spending time with his friends, playing basketball, bike riding, gardening and listening to blues music. He was the ultimate Steelers’ fan and was one of the original members of Lambert’s Lunatics.

Richard was a vibrant, uplifting and positive person who always saw the good in everything and everyone. His enthusiasm for life was contagious and drew people to him.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his devoted wife of 27 years, Julie (Galdes) Barancho; two beloved sons, Richard Jr. and Ryan Barancho of Cranberry Township; a brother and sister-in-law, John “Buno” and Allison Barancho of California; a sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Frank Iorio of Moon Township; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Victor and Loretta Galdes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Mark Barber of Connecticut, Jean and Nathan Hendricks of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jennifer Galdes of Chicago; nieces and nephews, Jake, Jade, Anna, Stephen, Alex, Jack and Adam; and many loving cousins and close friends.

Richard will always be remembered as a great husband, father and family man. He was always there for his family in every capacity. He will be sadly missed.

BARANCHO — Friends of Richard John Barancho, who died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, will be received today from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at

Tatalovich Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, where a service will be held Thursday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in the St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Barancho Memorial Family Fund, c/o Dollar Bank, 1709 Route 228, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
