Saxonburg arts festival offers 'Best of the Pros'

SAXONBURG — A feature of this year’s Saxonburg Festival of the Arts will be a “Best of the Pros” exhibit in the lower level of Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church on Main Street.

The paintings entered in this category will have won first place or best of show in the past 25 years in the fine arts shows of the arts festival.

Some of these artists will be demonstrating their work in Roebling Park during the festival.

Additionally, there are about 250 entries in the annual festival art show.

The Festival of the Arts takes place Saturday and Sunday at Roebling Park and at sites along West Main Street.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The annual festival features arts, crafts, photography, music, food, and a 5K race and community walk.

Entries are still being accepted for the photography exhibit at the Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church and cash prizes will be awarded. Walk-in entries will be taken from noon to 5 p.m. Friday. Call 724-352-4675 or 724-996-3864.

A highlight of this year’s festivities will be a visit from German guests from Saxonburg’s sister city, Muhlhausen, Germany. Mayor Jody Pflueger will introduce Oberburgermeister (Mayor) Hans-Dieter Dorbaum and other representatives at 2 p.m. Sunday in Roebling Park.

Festival admission and parking are free. Call 724-724-352-1400, Ext. 227, or visit the link from the Saxonburg Borough website, www.saxonburgpa. com.
