Robert C. Welton

Welton

Robert C. Welton, 61, of Karns City passed away Tuesday at ACMH Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 20, 1950, in Leechburg, the son of James and Mary Helen (Kamerer) Welton.

Bob lived in the area all his life and was a truck driver for TriMac Transportation until his retirement in 2010.

He married Hazel “Sally” Adams Oct. 18, 1968, and shared nearly 43 years of marriage.

He was active in the community and was well known in the Monday Night Men's League and the Tri-County Men's League at the Bruin Lanes. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Chicora and the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department.

To say that Bob was larger than life and a character would be an understatement. He was known for his generosity, easy laugh, strong work ethic and love of sports. His hobbies included hunting, bowling, refereeing football games, umpiring baseball games and coaching baseball. Bob's family and many friends will miss his wisdom, his kindness, and his great sense of humor.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Hazel “Sally” (Adams) Welton; his son, Jerry Welton and his wife, Rita, of Karns City; his daughter, Bobbi Bailey and her husband, Ken, of Karns City; grandchildren, Justin Bailey, and Alysha and Randy Welton; his brother, Jim Welton and his wife, Kathy, of Ohio, other siblings; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend of 20 years, Jim.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy “P-Nut” Welton; and a sister.
