Harry J. Phillips, Jr., 95, of Richland Township died Tuesday at St. John Specialty Care Center.

Born on Nov. 11, 1915, in McKeesport and raised in Etna, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Eleanor (Rice) Phillips, Sr.

A World War II U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran, Harry was a longtime member of the Bakerstown American Legion Post 548 where he participated in the funeral honor guard honoring hundreds of veteran's over the years. Harry also proudly marched in every Veterans Day parade in Pittsburgh since 1946.

A 1934 graduate of Etna High School and 1950 graduate of Robert Morris College, Harry was employed by Mellon National Bank until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gibsonia, having served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and elder. He was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F. & A.M., a lifetime member of the Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he was the company's secretary for more than 38 years, and was director emeritus and a longtime board member of the Pine-Richland Youth Foundation. Also, he enjoyed wood working, stained glass, square dancing and swimming.

He was the loving father of Marilyn (Thomas) Rogerson of Butler and James (Tricia) Phillips of East Stroudsburg; proud grandfather of Jared, Jonathan, Joshua and James Rogerson and Jeffrey, Russell and Marissa Phillips.

He was the beloved husband of the late Alice (Stewart) Phillips, who died on Oct. 26, 1986. He also was preceded in death by his sister, the late Nell McNally.

<B>PHILLIPS — </B>Family will welcome friends of Harry J. Phillips, Jr., who died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the <B>SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME,</B> 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Darcy Hawk and the Rev. Dan Muttart co-officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.
