Dennis Eugene Brown

Dennis Eugene Brown, 70, of Hovey Township, Parker, Armstrong county, passed away Sunday evening at Clarion Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Butler, May 22, 1941, he was the son of the late John Malcolm and Lillian Elliott Brown.

He attended the former Fairview Township-Karns City High School.

He was a Protestant.

Dennis was a 17-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant on Dec. 12, 1975. Serving two tours of service in Vietnam, he earned multiple Purple Heart medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service and Campaign medals, as well as several additional Marine and Navy commendations.

He was a member of the VFW Post 7073 and the American Legion Post 598, both of Parker.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, the former Linda Huffman of North Carolina; three sisters and their husbands, Sally (Larry) Seybert of Port Allegany, McKean County, Sue Ellen (Dave) Thompson of Grove City and Becky (Randy) Slaughenhoupt of Bruin; one brother, Jon Barton Brown and his wife, Marlene, of Cabot; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence “Brownie” Brown.

<B>BROWN</B> — Friends of Dennis Eugene Brown, who died Sunday, July 10, 2011, may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Buzard Funeral Home </B>in Parker. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Brent McMasters officiating.
