Map your trek to the Bantam Jeep Festival; watch for restrictions

During Friday’s Jeep parade for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival, many streets will be closed in Butler Township and in the city.

More than 1,000 Jeeps will be in the parade that begins at Butler County Community College and ends with a car cruise on Main Street. Road closures and restrictions include:

Route 8 northboundJust before 6 p.m., all northbound traffic will be required to travel in the left lane just before Decatur Drive. Traffic will be detoured across Picklegate Bridge and onto Hansen Avenue.Traffic in the city will be directed on side streets to bypass the car cruise and will be permitted back on Route 8 north at Pearl Street.Jeeps only will travel in the right northbound lane. Only Jeeps will be permitted to travel north on Route 8 past the Picklegate Bridge exit.Intersections between Decatur Drive and Picklegate Bridge will be directed by Butler Township police. The Jeep parade will be momentarily stopped to allow regular vehicular traffic to move through intersections.The Guinness Book of World Records, which the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau hopes to get the parade listed in, says regular traffic may not intermix with the Jeep traffic.Both northbound lanes will be reopened after all participating Jeeps have made their way to downtown. Vehicular traffic will then be permitted to travel across the Gen. Richard Butler Bridge and traffic will be diverted onto side streets starting at Wayne Street.Traffic restrictions throughout downtown will remain until midnight.

Route 8 southboundSouthbound traffic in the city will be detoured onto West Pearl Street just before 6 p.m. Vehicles will travel on Washington and West Wayne streets and then back onto Route 8.

DowntownParking will not be permitted on Main Street after 5 p.m. and East Diamond Street after 3 p.m. on Friday.During the car cruise, the Jeeps will be parked on Main Street between Pearl Street and Wayne Street. Jeeps also will be parked on North, Jefferson and Cunningham streets.
