An Outdoor Discovery series is being held Thursdays this summer at Alameda Park, off New Castle Road, Butler Township. A program on “Fur Bearers of PA” is scheduled for 7 p.m. today in the Carousel Shelter. Admission is free. Call 724-284-5383. The final presentation in the series will be by ATA Martial Arts at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Masonic Shelter.

<B>McConnells Mill State Park</B> in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, off Route 422, has the gristmill open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays with interpretive tours offered at 1 and 3 p.m. each day. The gristmill will also be open from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays with tours at 1 and 2 p.m. Call 724-368-3612 to confirm programs.<B>Star Parties</B> sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will start at about 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, weather permitting, at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, Frazer Township, Allegheny County. Admission is free, though donations are accepted to help cover costs.
