Commissioners select BC3 trustees
The Butler County Commissioners on Wednesday appointed Jim Ferguson and Kim Geyer to the Butler County Community College Board of Trustees. Their terms run through June 30, 2013.
Ferguson of Chicora is the director of training for the Learning Institute for the Growth of High Technology, the training division of Cabot-based Penn United Technologies. He is chairman of the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board for Butler, Armstrong and Indiana counties, and is co-chairman of the Butler County Manufacturing Consortium.
Geyer of Adams Township is president of the Mars School Board, vice president of the Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4 board, and is on the advisory board for the Allegheny Institute for Public Policy.
A co-owner of Geyer Construction of Valencia, Geyer ran for the Republican nomination for county commissioner in the May primary.
The new trustees replace Eric W. Schultz, chief financial officer of the Center for Community Resources, and Gene Marcink, general manager of AK Steel Butler Works, who both resigned.
Schultz was treasurer of the BC3 board, and he was replaced by Bruce Mazzoni, a Cranberry Township supervisor, in a May board election.
Other officers re-elected in May are Ray Steffler, an aide to state Sen. Mary Jo White, R-21st, chairman; Dr. William DiCuccio, medical director of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, vice chairman; and Jessica Forsythe, architect and owner of 4 Most Group Architects, secretary.
