Ruby V. Ebel
Ruby V. Ebel, 80, went home to be with the Lord at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grove Manor, Grove City, after a 3-month illness. She was a 60-year resident of Irishtown Road, Pine Township, Mercer County,.
Born in Pine Township, Feb. 14, 1931, she was the daughter of John Emory Orville Smith and Hilda Fox.
She was married to John Ebel.
Mrs. Ebel was a homemaker, and she formerly was a clerk at the former Barkus Hallmark Store at Pine Grove Plaza, Grove City.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City, where she was a former Sunday school teacher in the Beginners Department of the church for more than 40 years. She was a leader and commander of the AWANA Christian youth organization of the church. She also was a former 4-H member and leader.
She was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1949.
Surviving are her husband, John, at home; four children, Beverly Joanne Peth of Butler, the Rev. William J. Ebel and his wife, Shirley, of Grove City, Janet D. Highman and husband, Mark J., of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Nancy Ann Rohrs and her husband, Gary, of Stryker, Ohio; four sisters, Martha Stoops of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Boldrick of Tucson, Ariz., Freda Williamson of Philadelphia and Evelyn Hedglin and her husband, Don, of Grove City; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Lois Shelenberger and Bethel Moore.
<B>EBEL </B>— Funeral services for Ruby V. Ebel, who died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, will be at the First Baptist Church, 103 Cranberry Road, Grove City, at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. David L. Johnson, church pastor, officiating. Visitation will be at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
