Michael Woods Davis, 58, of Prospect peacefully passed away at his residence Thursday with his family by his side.

He was born April 18, 1953, in Washington, Pa., to the late William Woods Davis, and Anne P. Davis of Washington.

Michael received his BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University in 1975 and 1976 respectively. He received his Ph.D in engineering mechanics from The Ohio State University in 1985.

He is a 35 year member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect.

He was employed since 1976 as a research engineer, most recently as a senior fellow, at American Glass Research in Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Teddy Maleski Davis, who he married on Aug. 3, 1974; his children, Jennifer (Lucas) Landau of Ross Township and Tyler (Katie Forrest) Davis of McCandless Township; his mother, Anne Davis of Washington; his sister, Sheryl Wehn of Tucson, Ariz.; his brother, William Davis of Flower Mound, Texas; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Woods Davis.

Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Prospect with Rev. Gary Brown, his church pastor, officiating. Michael’s wishes were for a walking procession from the funeral home to the church.
