Bertha Mae Hays

Bertha Mae Hays, 75, of Butler went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born March 4, 1936, in Herman, the daughter of the late Charles E. Porter Sr. and Pearl (Barrett) Porter.

Bertha attended Community Alliance Church.

She loved spending time with her family and her adopted family.

Mrs. Hays loved her Lord.

She was a waitress for many years, worked in home care with many patients and was a pharmacy technician at Rite Aid for seven years.

She was a member of the VFW Post 249 Women's Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, John “Jack” G. Hays; four daughters, Pamela (Richard) Miller, Lori (Kenneth) Meredith, Loretta (Randy) Bachman and Robin (Richard) Bargo, all of Butler; a son, Ronald (Debb) Maire of Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriet Maxwell of Butler; a brother, John Porter of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.

<B>HAYS</B> — A memorial service for Bertha Mae Hays, who died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler.In her own words, Bertha requested that in lieu of flowers, all contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Arrangements are by <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler.
