FOXBURG — The band JD Eicher and the Good Nights will premier the Allegheny RiverStone Center for the Arts 2011 lawn concert series on The Foxburg Green at 7 p.m. Friday.

The band formed while JD attended Westminster College now is performing in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. It has roots in acoustic, Indie and pop rock.

JD and the band have been influenced by the likes of Coldplay, the Dave Matthews Band, U2 and the Beatles.

But the music doesn’t stop there. At 7 p.m. Saturday Donna Parker a renowned theater organist comes to play the Lincoln Hall Wurlitzer.

She is a native of Los Angeles, where she began studying the organ at the age of seven.

She made her first recording at 15, and was appointed the first official organist for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball organization.

After college she played at the Organ Stop Pizza in Phoenix and later at the Roaring Twenties restaurant in Grand Rapids Michigan. She opened as featured organist at the Paramount Music Palace in Indianapolis, Ind., in 1979 and played there for more than 10 years.

She moved to the Portland, Ore., area in 1990 where she served as marketing manager for the Rodgers Instrument Corp. for several years. She performed regularly at two restaurants in Portland and in Vancouver, Wash.

In 1996, Parker was named “Organist of the Year” by the American Theatre Organ Society.

Now, she is the music director and organist at Piedmont Presbyterian Church in Portland, and as associate organist at First United Methodist Church in Portland with Jonas Nordwall.

The JD Eicher and the Good Nights concert is by “pass the hat” donation and tickets for Parker adults are $10 and students $5.
