No one injured in blaze

Warehouse gets damaged by fire

GROVE CITY — Nine fire departments responded to an afternoon fire Tuesday at Cooper Industrial Commons along Lincoln Avenue.

According to firefighters, a warehouse in the 65,000-square foot complex was damaged by smoke and flames of an unknown origin, but no injuries were reported and no exterior damage was visible on the buildings at 180 Lincoln Ave.

The former heavy industry foundry and complex, mostly made up of two-story, corrugated steel structures, houses Cooper, which leases space for commercial manufacturing and warehousing, as well as Pennsylvania Equipment and Wolf Creek Coal.

Electricity was cut for several blocks around the building while fire crews worked, according to employees of USIS across the street.

Firefighters on the roof of the building could be seen cutting holes for ventilation as well.

Volunteer fire departments from Grove City, Harrisville, Pine Township, East End, Stoneboro, Springfield Township, Slippery Rock, Jefferson Township and Jackson Center were assisted on the scene by Superior Ambulance and the Lawrence County EMS Casualty and Command Unit.

Eagle news intern Brian Brodeur contributed to this report.
