Diocese reopening 3 churches
PITTSBURGH — The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh is reopening three churches in Western Pennsylvania, including two that had been occupied by congregations that voted to join a more conservative Anglican diocese and moved out of the buildings.
St. James in Penn Hills will hold its first services on Sunday after closing in 2008. St. Thomas in Barnesboro, Cambria County, will reopen on July 17 after being closed since 2004. St. Christopher’s in Warrendale, Butler County, will reopen at an unspecified date in the near future. That church had not held services since February.
St. James and St. Christopher’s were occupied by congregations that voted to join the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh.
