An Outdoor Discovery series takes place Thursdays in summer at Alameda Park, off New Castle Road, Butler Township. The Pennsylvania Wilderness Search and Rescue Council will present a program at 7 p.m. today in the Carousel Shelter. “Let There Be Slime” will take place at 7 p.m. July 7 in the Carousel Shelter. Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township, will be the site of a scavenger hunt at the beach from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Beach, an eco-tour paddle from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday departing from Porter's Cove, and a kayak and water safety cookout from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Moraine Outdoor Center. Also, yoga on the beach is scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays in July at Pleasant Valley Beach. Call 724-368-8811 to confirm programs.
<B>McConnells Mill State Park</B> in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, has the gristmill open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays with interpretive tours at 1 and 3 p.m. each day. The gristmill will also be open from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays with tours at 1 and 2 p.m. Programs include “Native Plants for Your Garden” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday and “Art in the Park” from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, both at the gristmill.
