SLIPPERY ROCK — A Lawrence County man waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges that he allegedly took nude photos of a young girl and showed her pornographic movies several years ago.
Chad Anthony Youkers, 36, of Ellwood City was arrested in March. He is charged with one count of child endangerment, five counts of corruption of minors and four counts of furnishing alcohol to minors. Four child endangerment counts were dismissed by District Judge Tim Shaffer.
Police suspect the alleged incidents happened between 2003 and 2005 in a mobile home in Muddy Creek Township. The victim, now 15 years old, was between 7 to 10 at the time of the alleged incidents.
His formal arraignment is set for July 26 at Butler County Courthouse.
BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College’s Mary Jo Mohn Covert scholarship for the performing arts recently reached the $10,000 endowment level after a gift from Rose Smith, mother of Mary Jo Mohn Covert.The $500 annual scholarship is awarded to a Butler High School graduate in the performing arts. It is funded by family and friends of Mary Jo Mohn Covert and the Don Orwald Arts Initiative.Proceeds from the June 25 performance of “Mark Twain & Elvis Presley—Together Again for the First Time” also will benefit the scholarship.The BC3 Education Foundation, Inc., awards $130,000 a year in 75 scholarships to students in all majors.Registration may be completed online at www.bc3.edu.
