Skid goes to 6 for BlueSox
Gray Stafford had a triple, two singles and four RBI to lead the West Virginia Miners to a 9-6 Prospect League victory over the Butler BlueSox Sunday in Beckley, W.Va.
John Spirk and Blake Roberts also contributed three hits each to the victory.
Butler’s Jacob Reese had a single, double, three RBI and two runs scored, while Shayne Houck had a double and single and Jason Radwan two singles.
The decision was the BlueSox’s (3-7) sixth consecutive defeat while West Virginia improved to a division-leading 8-2.
In Saturday’s games:
• Connor Weir’s RBI single in the bottom of the 12th inning gave Lorain County a 5-4 victory over the Slippery Rock Sliders (4-5).
Mason Dillon had three hits and an RBI, Radley Haddad one hit and two RBI and Tell Taylor two hits, all for Slippery Rock.
Michael Burke had five hits and Zak Blair three to lead the Ironmen (4-5).
• Butler’s Matt Lengel struck out nine and walked one, but the Butler BlueSox still fell to the Miners 7-2 in Beckley, W. Va.
Lengel allowed six runs on seven hits over five innings. Matt Shepherd struck out seven and walked one over seven innings to pick up the win for the Miners.
Radwan and Butler High graduate Evan Oswald had a single and double apiece and Houck added a double and RBI.
Zach Tanner had two doubles, a single, two runs and two RBI and Spirk a double, home run and three RBI for West Virginia.
