Helen Anne Furka
Helen Anne Furka, formerly of Lyndora, died Friday at Elderberry Court, Ambridge.
Helen was a graduate of Butler High School and The Butler Business School.
She was a legal secretary for the late Judge George Kiester of Butler and the late U.S. District Judge Herbert P. Sorg in Pittsburgh. She also was a secretary at American Hardware and for the Pittsburgh School District She retired from the Pennsylvania Wage and Hour Division in Pittsburgh. She served as secretary for the Rev. Father John Moniak, pastor of the St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora.
She was a member of Jednota, the First Catholic Slovak, Third Order of Franciscans, the Christian Mothers, the pro-life movement and the Retired State Workers Association.
Helen's joy in life was her family and church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Demiter and Katherine Jancosko Furka; and siblings, Anne Furka, Joseph Furka, Stephen Furka, Ambrose Furka and William Furka.
She was the sister of Alyosius Furka of Steubenville, Ohio, and Anthony (Barbara) Furka of Kansas City, Mo.; sister-in-law of Marie Furka of Butler, Betty Jane Furka of Butler and Arlene Furka of Baden; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
<B>FURKA </B>— Friends of Helen Anne Furka, who died Friday, March 25, 2011, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Kasper-Hahn Funeral & Cremation Services</B>, 547 Eighth St., Ambridge, 724-266-2549. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
