Hampton wins pitching duel vs. Mars

Hampton scored the only run it would need in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Mars baseball team lost a pitching duel, 1-0, to the Talbots Wednesday afternoon.

Tyler Dean got the loss, despite giving up just four hits in six innings for the Planets (7-1, 6-1), who lost for the first time this season.

John Arnold picked up the win for Hampton. He struck out nine and didn't walk a batter, scattering six singles over seven innings of work.

Blake Friday had two singles for Mars.

Elsewhere:

• O.J. Orlowski had a home run, single and six RBI to help Grove City to a 15-0, four-inning victory in the nightcap of a doubleheader against Meadville.

Jon Anderson drove in three runs in an 9-5 victory in the first game.
