Musical performances and an all-night dance party will mark Gillian Scanlon’s Memorial Birthday Bash on Saturday at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

Gillian’s brother, Butler native Spencer Keasey Scanlon, has gathered together several New York City songwriters to perform at the show to benefit The Art Center. Their father, Paul Scanlon, serves as president of the Associated Artists of Butler County.

The acoustic show will be led by guitarist Christopher Paul Stelling, appearing for the third time in Butler. Joining him will be folk singer Julia Christgau, also of New York City.

Butler’s Erika Seth will perform her folk songs, and Jerry Lorenz will round out the lineup with his Southern-fried blend of experimental blues and punk.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $12 and will be available at the door.

Following the concert, a dance party will take place downstairs at The Art Center. Spencer Keasey Scanlon will provide the entertainment.

The show is being held in honor of what would have been the 26th birthday of Gillian Scanlon, who died tragically several years ago.

Her brother hosted a memorial benefit in New York last year but said he wanted to bring it back to Butler.

“With a lot my family not being able to make it then and the community not able to be involved, I wanted to come back and do something with people who knew her,” he said.
