Donald C. Kern, 80, of Saxonburg died Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice unit at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.

He was born Sept. 23, 1930, to Andrew and Anna Bernhardt Kern.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Don was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot.

He enjoyed gardening and doing home improvements.

He is survived by two sons, Donald J. Kern of Saxonburg and Richard J. Kern of Sarver; and a grandson, Derek Kern.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Edith (Regan) Kern, who died Oct. 11, 2001.

<B>KERN </B>— Friends of Donald C. Kern, who died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the St. Luke Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jason Hoerth officiating.
