Lillian 'Tillie' Wymer
Lillian “Tillie” W. Gamble Wymer, born Feb. 7, 1917, passed away March 11 at the age of 94. She grew up and lived most of her life in Butler.
Her parents were the late Rev. Samuel C. Gamble, pastor of the Second United Presbyterian Church, and Anna (Boyd) Gamble of Butler.
Lillian graduated from Butler High School in 1936 and from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with an arts degree in 1940.
Lillian met her husband, the late Ralph M. Wymer, M.D., at a New Wilmington Missionary Conference in 1939. They were married in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1942, where he was a stationed as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Lillian was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years, the National Costumers Association and the Sunnyview Women's Auxiliary.
She had been a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church since the age of 12. She owned and operated the former Costume Shop in Butler for about 15 years.
Survivors include six children, Samuel Wymer of Tucson, Ariz., Daniel (Donna) Wymer of Butler, Carolyn (Ronald) Stutz of Butler, Martha (Nick) Lapcevic of Quinton, Va., Jackson (Mary) Wymer of Butler and Randal (Jane) Wymer of Butler; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph M. Wymer, M.D.; a brother, William Gamble; and a grandson, Shawn Wymer.

North St., Butler, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the Hill United Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Clark Sawyer of Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating.
