1st grader's design reaches the finals
SAXONBURG — With enough votes, South Butler Primary School student Nicole Critchlow could win the national Heinz Ketchup Creativity contest. Critchlow is a first grader.
The public may vote for Critchlow’s ketchup packet design through Monday at www.ketchupcreativity.com. Participants need to choose one of three designs from each grade level — kindergarten/first through grade 12 — and hit the “submit” button at the bottom of the page to vote.
This is the fifth year for the contest. Internationally acclaimed artist Burton Morris chose these finalists. Heinz will select the grand prize winner from among the 12 designs that receive the most votes, one from each grade.
The 12 designs that win the most votes will each appear on more than 20 million ketchup packets during the 2011-12 school year. Each winner and his or her school will receive $1,000.
The grand prize winner’s art will appear on ketchup bottles, in addition to the other prizes.
