William M. 'Doc' Messer

William M. “Doc” Messer, 79, of Slippery Rock died peacefully Thursday at his home. He lived in Slippery Rock for the past 15 years.

He was an avid fan of Slippery Rock University baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

Mr. Messer is survived by one son, Jeffrey Messer and his wife, Mary, of Slippery Rock; and two daughters, Sheila Porrini and her husband, Paul, of Lee, Mass., and Donna Maree of Pittsfield, Mass. He had nine grandchildren, including Matt, Michelle and Billy Messer; and three great-grandchildren.

<B>MESSER</B> — The funeral for William M. “Doc” Messer, who died Thursday, March 3, 2011, will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Roche Funeral Home in Lenox, Mass.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Slippery Rock University, Baseball Team, Baseball Office, Morrow Way, Slippery Rock, PA 16057 or to Hayleigh Porrini, his great-granddaughter, to help in her battle with leukemia, 127 Debbie Ave., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.Arrangements are by <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler.Information also is available at www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
