Dale Pinkerton

Pinkerton

Dale Pinkerton came to his role as chairman of the Butler County Board of Commissioners with over 40 years of experience as a businessman and local community leader.

A native of Mars, Dale was raised by a single mom after his parents divorced when he was 7 years old. A neighbor, Judge Moore, took an interest in the youngster and paid for Dale to join the YMCA. At the Y, Dale learned about integrity, values, and doing your best.

“Because of the chance Judge Moore gave to me at a point in my life when I really needed it,” Dale says, “I’ve always tried to give back to other people in life.”

He attended Carrick High School in Pittsburgh, where he excelled on the swim team and met his future wife, Millie, when he was just 17. They married in 1960, and during the past 51 years have watched their family grow to two daughters and seven grandchildren.

He also attended Grove City College and worked as a licensed funeral director before joining the Goodyear organization in 1965.

Dale owned and operated Dale Pinkerton Goodyear in downtown Butler for over 25 years.

As a Rotarian and a Shriner, he has helped raise countless dollars for humanitarian and charitable causes. He founded the well-known Rotary Turkey Roundup, and he also served on the boards of the Downtown Business Association, the Butler Parking Authority, the Salvation Army, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, among others.

He is a past district governor for Rotary, and for years he has entertained children through the Shriners as Pinky the Clown.

As a county commissioner, Dale stands for fiscal responsibility, quality of life for residents, and investing for the future prosperity of our communities.

During his term, he oversaw the completion of the stalled prison project and the renovation of the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He personally raised $26,000 in private funds to beautify Sunnyview for the benefit of its residents.

Under Dale’s watchdog fiscal policies, the county has not raised taxes in three years and has saved taxpayers millions of dollars through a wide range of cost-saving measures.

He is a candidate for re-election in the Republican primary on May 17.
