HARRISBURG — Unemployment in Pennsylvania is at its lowest rate since May 2009.

The state Department of Labor and Industry estimated Thursday that Pennsylvania's unemployment rate hit 8 percent in February, a drop of three-tenths of a percentage point, as employers added 23,700 jobs to payrolls.

Pennsylvania's payrolls are at 5.67 million, about 150,000 below the 2008 peak.

NEW YORK — General Mills says it has entered into exclusive negotiations to buy a majority stake in French yogurt company Yoplait.The binding offer with PAI Partner and Sodiaal, the owners of Yoplait S.A.S., would beat out rivals bidding for the company.General Mills' offer includes a 50 percent interest and a controlling role in the company, the food company said today.Under the proposed transaction, General Mills will team up with Sodiaal in expanding the Yoplait brand and businesses in France, Europe and around the world.

WASHINGTON — Honda said Thursday it is recalling new models of the Civic compact car and Odyssey minivan over leaking fuel tanks and faulty windshield wiper rods, respectively.The recall covers about 18,000 Civics and 33,000 Odysseys from the 2011 model year.Honda says a plastic case that covers a valve in the fuel pump module could break or crack in the Civic. That, in turn, could lead to a fuel leak in a rollover crash, and the leaking fuel could lead to a fire.
