Vernon L. Peterman Sr.

Peterman Sr.

Vernon L. Peterman Sr., 92, of Butler died at 9 p.m. Sunday in the LAS/St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars.

Born Feb. 14, 1918, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late Roy Peterman and Hazel Baker Peterman.

Mr. Peterman was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He had been active in Local Union 66 of the Operating Engineers for more than 50 years.

He was a member of the Living Word Evangelical Free Church.

Mr. Peterman is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Essig Peterman, who he married April 14, 1938; one daughter, Janet and her husband, Jack Frazier, of Crossville, Tenn.; one son and his wife, John and Karen Peterman of Butler; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and eight nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Peterman was preceded in death by one son, Vernon Peterman Jr.; one brother, Omar Peterman; and one sister, Mrs. Virginia Booth.

<B>PETERMAN </B>— Friends of Vernon L. Peterman Sr., who died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Glassman of the Living Word Evangelical Free Church officiating.
