CENTER TWP — After six years of business in Butler Township, Future POS/Cutting Edge Solutions is expanding and moving to a new location this summer.

The company, which provides touch-screen, point-of-sale software and hardware for food service and other businesses, also will add staff and a wellness center when it moves to its new location at 1741 N. Main St. Ext.

The business — actually two entities, Cutting Edge Solutions, which designs and programs the software, and Future POS, which distributes the product — is at 205 S. Eberhart Road in Butler Township and employs about 22 people.

“We’ve been out of space for quite a while. We just needed to find the right space,” said vice president and co-owner Kelly Giles.

“That building became available, and we just jumped on it.”

The 12,000-square-foot former dance studio along Route 8 will host several improvements over the business’ current 3,800-square foot building.

First, President and CEO John Giles, who is Kelly’s husband, will have his own office. He currently shares an office.

Second, the new building will feature a wellness center with a gym and shower, promoting a healthy lifestyle for employees.

“We’re choosy who we hire because we’re like a little family. We have a lot of employees who have been with us since the very beginning,” Kelly Giles said.

“And healthy employees are better employees.”

Following the move, she said the company will hire additional programmers, support staff and sales personnel.

Giles said the new building, which “was pretty much gutted,” will be updated with a brick-and-stucco exterior, as well.

“When the building’s done, it’s not going to be the eyesore it is now,’ Giles said.

“It’s going to be top-of-the-line when it’s done. We’re very excited about it. We’re hoping to be done by July or August.”

The building will be Cutting Edge Solutions/Future POS’ fifth home in its 13 years of operation.

“Originally, it started out as a basement operation, then we moved into our new house and worked out of a home office,” Giles said.

After moving into a rented building, the Giles’ renovated and moved into the building at 205 S. Eberhart Road about six years ago.

In May 2010, the Giles’ bought their new building, and renovations started in November with Butler contractor W.K. Thomas and Associates doing the work.

“I think our name is really getting out there and we are growing by leaps and bounds,” Giles said.

Future POS has a dealer network of more than 75 dealers in the United States, plus one each in the United Kingdom and Canada.

Future POS also operates satellite offices in Ohio and Texas.

“We have installs in Dubai, China, Ireland. It’s definitely a worldwide business,” Giles said.

Future POS systems are used in restaurants in the Butler County area such as the Log Cabin Inn, the Iron Bridge, Natili’s, Snack ‘N’ Pack, the Monroe Hotel and Ginger Hill Tavern.
