Slippery Rock's Kelsey Reott advanced to the PIAA Class AA Swimming and Diving Championships in two events at the District 10 swimming championships held over the weekend.

Reott placed second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 2.10 seconds to earn an automatic berth to the state meet, which begins March 16 at Bucknell University.

Reott also qualified because of her time in the 100 backstroke.

Katie Antal also qualified for the Rockets girls, placing second to earn an automatic berth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.50.

As a team, the Slippery Rock girls placed seventh out of 17 teams. Grove City, which didn't advance an individual to the state meet, placed fifth as a team.

The Eagles' boys did get two relay teams and an idividual to the state meet, however.

Ben Yute advanced in the 200 individual medley with a third-place finish. His time of 2:05.99 was good enough to earn him a spot at the PIAA meet.

Yute also will swim legs on the Grove City 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays at the state meet. Both relays advanced.

As a team, the Eagles placed third behind Fairview and Franklin.

The Slippery Rock boys, who placed 11th, will send Brandon Bridges on to the PIAA championships. Bridges earned an automatic berth with a time of 5:08.15 in the 500 freestyle to place second.
