Carol Lee Dunn Daugherty of Franklin Township died suddenly Saturday.

Born in Butler, Jan. 25, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Lamont Dunn and Mary Kathryn Thomas Dunn.

She was a member of the Class of 1962 at Slippery Rock High School and the Nursing School Class of 1976 at Butler County Community College. Carol also attended Slippery Rock University and received her bachelor of nursing degree in December 1992.

Carol was a retired registered nurse who enjoyed volunteering at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler. She also worked various positions in her career at American Healthways in Pittsburgh, United Community Hospital in Grove City, the Visiting Nurses Association in Butler and Butler Memorial Hospital. Her patients admired Carol as a loving caregiver who would sit by their bedside and comfort all in the room.

Carol enjoyed traveling with her husband of 46 years, Charles Marshall Daugherty, who she married Aug. 29, 1964.

She was a member of the Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed photography and would always have a camera nearby for the perfect picture. Carol loved the theater and traveled to Pittsburgh and New York City with her dear friend, Wanda, to watch several performances. She also was an avid reader, and loved her dog and cat and the farm she shared with her husband and her children. Her grandchildren fondly remember the ice cream socials in the front yard during the summer.

Surviving her are her loving husband, Charles Marshall Daugherty; a son, Jeffery Charles Daugherty of Ludlow; daughters, Amy Sue (Kenneth) Raabe and Kathryn Joan (Patrick) Ray of Butler; eight grandchildren, Andrew Scott Daugherty of Parker, Matthew Charles Daugherty of Tionesta, Nicholas Ryan Daugherty of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Katlyn Suzanne Daugherty, Colten Marl Raabe, Hallie Sue Raabe, Aleesa Josephine Ray and Patrick Joseph Ray Jr., all of Butler, and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cora Margaret “Peggy” Best of Harrisville.

<B>DAUGHERTY </B>— A memorial service to honor the life of Carol Lee Dunn Daugherty, who died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 W. Old Route 422, Butler.A dinner and time of remembrance will follow in the church social hall.In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the Butler Health System Foundation, Attn. Breast Cancer Support Group, 911 E. Brady St., Butler, PA 16001.Arrangements are by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler, and information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
