Mary A. Thinnes

Thinnes

Mary A. (Walter) Thinnes, 90, of Penn Township died Wednesday.

Born Sept. 10, 1920, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Walter. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Franz.

Mary was a faithful member of the Holy Sepulcher Church, where she was active with the annual Bazaar, RCIA and Right to Life.

She was a nurse with the former Sunnycrest Nursing Home in Saxonburg, and she was a volunteer for the VNA Hospice in Butler.

Mary enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Keystone Squares.

She was the beloved wife for 63 years of Joseph F. Thinnes, who she married July 19, 1947; the loving mother of William (Virginia) Thinnes of Penn Township, Janet (David) Morgain of Penn Township and James (Carol) Thinnes of North Carolina; and sister of Jeanne (David) Yeager of Chicora. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

<B>THINNES</B> — The family of Mary A. (Walter) Thinnes, who died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, will welcome friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Holy Sepulcher Church, Glade Mills. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.The family suggests donations to the Holy Sepulcher Church Building Fund, 1304 E.
