Janice Jackson
Janice Mayhew Jackson, 79, of Butler died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born July 21, 1931, in Distant, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Leon P. Mayhew and Florence Nichols Mayhew.
Mrs. Jackson worked six years as a school crossing guard, but the majority of her life was spent as a homemaker.
She was a member of the North Main Street Church of God and the AARP.
She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, nature, attending Sunday school, watching Cornerstone television and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband, William F. Jackson Jr., who she married Aug. 20, 1954; one son, William F. Jackson III and his wife, Amy, of Butler; one daughter, Rosalie A. Scott and her husband, Keith, of Vandergrift; three granddaughters; one grandson; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by two brothers, Damon and Robert Mayhew.

A memorial service for Janice Mayhew Jackson, who died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor David Brown of the North Main Street Church of God officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Public Library, 218 N.
