GOING SOUTH
Eddie Vargo, his wife, Betty, and their 14-month-old son, Eddie Jr., head south on Feb. 26, 1965, for the land of sunshine in St. Petersburg, Fla., where Butler’s member of the National Baseball League umpiring staff began his season’s work. With winter drawing to a close soon, this year’s crop of umpires and players are in Florida and Arizona preparing for the upcoming season.
