Nancy C. Shannon, 74, of Butler, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at 2:28 p.m. Sunday in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 19, 1936, in Meadville, she was the daughter of the late William Allan Shannon and Nellie Wray Shannon.

Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Latrobe High School and worked at the Hilton Hotel in Pittsburgh as a reservationist for 35 years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, where she was very active when she lived in Pittsburgh.

She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and traveling. She also loved animals.

She is survived by one brother, Allan Wray and his wife, Pat Shannon, of Maui, Hawaii; two sisters, Bernice and her husband, Robert Bell, of Anacortes, Wash., and Barbara and her husband, James Swidzinski, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>SHANNON</B> — Friends of Nancy C. Shannon, who died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Stephen M. Franklin of the Meridian United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.Contributions may be made to the YWCA, 120 W.
