Rose Mary Johnson, 55, of Chicora died Sunday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 11, 1955, in Franklin, the daughter of Kenneth Leroy Tarr and Martha Bell (Fair) Tarr Reed.

Rose was a 1974 graduate of Butler High School.

On Nov. 27, 1976, she married the love of her life, William David Johnson, with whom she shared 16 wonderful years of marriage.

Rose attended the Butler County Vo-Tech for nursing and previously worked as a nurse's aide for the Chicora Medical Center and the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She also previously was employed by the Butler Veterinary Association and Witco.

Rose was a member of the Freeport Alliance Church.

She loved to cook and bake cookies, cakes and pies, and she was known for her lasagna. Rose took great pleasure in spending time with her family. She helped raise her nieces and nephews, and her greatest joy came from and caring for babies.

Rose will best be remembered for her kindness, her generosity and for being the very special giving person she was.

Rose will be deeply missed by her two sons, Brad Johnson of Chicora and Andrew Johnson and his wife, Hope, of Fenelton; two brothers, Michael Tarr and his wife, Carla, of Titusville and Ernest Tarr and his wife, Melissa, of Karns City; two sisters, Sandra Elizabeth Sybert and her husband, Mike, and Kathleen Jane McDaniel and her husband, Jeff, all of Chicora; two grandchildren, Kaylee Renee Johnson and William David Johnson; five nieces, Nichole L. Vavro, Stephanie M. Sybert, Kristine Tarr, Melissa Uhl and Michelle Graham; four nephews, Christopher Uhl, Kenneth Tarr, Dan Tarr and a nephew who is expected in April; and one great-niece, Aysha Vavro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Delbert E. Reed; her husband, William David Johnson, who died Jan. 31, 1993; and one sister, Susan Marie Boarts, who died July 4, 2009.
