The Butler County Farm Bureau will be celebrating Food Check-Out Day on Tuesday. The day is set to recognize that the average American will have earned enough income to pay for their family’s entire 2011 food supply during the first five weeks of the year.To observe the event, people are encouraged to donate food and money to the region’s Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh. The charitable organization provides a home away from home for parents and children waiting for a love one having treatment at the hospital.American families and individuals currently spend, on average, just less than 10 percent of their disposable income on food. Americans also enjoy the safest, most abundant and affordable food supply on Earth.Food contribution drop off sites are: Boldy’s Bakery, 667 Pittsburgh Road, Butler; Rep. Daryl Metcalfe’s office, 2525 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township; and Soergel’s Market, Wexford. To make a monetary donation or for more information, contact Larry Voll at 724-789-9219.
