Ketterer

Jean M. Ketterer, 87, formerly of Ellwood City and Prospect, passed away at 5 a.m. Sunday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.

Mrs. Ketterer was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Muddy Creek Township to the late Frank R. Frazier and Anna L. Kennedy Frazier.

She graduated from the Muddy Creek Township High School in 1941 and attended a medical secretary school in Jamestown, N.Y.

Jean worked for Drs. Milton and Aaron Caplain for many years as their secretary. She then worked at the Ellwood City Hospital in the medical records department for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Ketterer was a member of the Wurtemburg United Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family and friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Judith Ketterer of Ellwood City; three sons, and daughters-in-law, George (Annie) Ketterer and Larry (Mary) Ketterer, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas (Carol) Ketterer of Franklin Township; five grandchildren, George Ketterer III, Randy (Johanna) Ketterer, Rod (Gisel) Ketterer, Kara Ketterer and Tomiann Ketterer; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Ketterer and Rocco Yanssens; and one sister, Maudie Boots of Ellwood City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Ketterer Sr., who she married Sept. 9, 1944, and who passed away Aug. 22, 2007; and two sisters, Bessie Pifer and Edna Graham.

Ketterer, who died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the <B>Samuel Teolis Funeral Home</B>, 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Stinson officiating.
