Hamot now a part of UPMC
ERIE — Erie’s Hamot Medical Center is now officially a part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center health system.
The hospital will be run by a 24-member board which includes 16 people already on Hamot’s board of trustees and eight others picked by UPMC.
Hamot’s trustees approved the deal last month, and it went into effect Tuesday.
As part of the deal, UPMC is giving Hamot $300 million over 10 years to expand and update its technology.
