CRANBERRY TWP——A new ESB Bank branch office may be built near one of the main entrances to Graham Park and the BelleVue Park neighborhood off Rochester Road.

In other township business action, the Giant Eagle supermarket in the Cranberry Mall off Route 19 plans to sell beer in its café, similar to what is done at the Giant Eagle in Seven Fields off Route 228.

Ron Henshaw, Cranberry director of community development, said Thursday the new 2,794-square-foot ESB Bank will be at the corner of Rochester Road and Graham Park Drive.

The development will feature new streetscape requirements including a 42-foot brick street wall, a pedestrian area, decorative lighting and poles and street lights.

The sidewalks will be connected to the BelleVue Park system.

The bank will include two drive-thru lanes, one ATM lane, and two entrances, a right-in, right-out access from Graham Park Drive and an access on Rochester Road.

Supervisors will vote on the final plans for the bank at next Thursday’s meeting.

Giant Eagle

The supervisors also will vote next Thursday on whether to approve a liquor license transfer that would permit Giant Eagle to sell alcohol in its restaurant.

The Giant Eagle has been operated by Supersale, an independent franchisee, in the mall since 1988. Its 60-seat restaurant/café area has been open since 1995.

Unlike the Giant Eagle in Seven Fields, which also sales wine and liquor, the Cranberry owners plan to sell beer only.

Under state law, sales will be limited to two six packs at a time. Two beers will be allowed to be consumed in the café but only if the patron buys something to eat.

Those wanting to buy more that two six packs would be required to leave the store and come back in empty-handed to buy additional beer.

Although the Giant Eagle is opened 24 hours, beer sales will be restricted to the café hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Giant Eagle asked the township and the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board to approve a liquor license transfer from Chicora.

Attorney Stan Wolowski, representing Supersale, said about 75 supermarkets in Pennsylvania sell alcohol in their restaurants.
