Donald A. Dressel

Donald A. Dressel, 79, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away Thursday at Select Specialty Hospital, Mercy Medical in Ohio.

Don was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Butler, to the late Albert and Agnes (Cook) Dressel.

Following high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge.

In 1956, he married Gerri Sober, and they moved to Massillon in 1960.

He was employed at Superior Brand Meats for 28 years, retiring in 1988.

Don was active with the Knights of Columbus 554, the Bishop Massillon Assembly 4th Degree, and the American Legion Post 221. He also helped with the Boy Scouts.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and the family vacations in Ocean City, Md. Personally, he enjoyed sports, especially his Super Bowl-bound Steelers. He loved remodeling and working with his hands.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen A. Dressel in 1992; and a sister, Dolores Keasey.

Don will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Gerri Dressel at home; their three children, Lynda (Mark Lightfoot) Fisher, Mary Kay (Rick) Groves and Rosanne (Butch) Satrang; three grandchildren, Donald, Danielle and Owen; and a sister, Thelma Braun.

<B>DRESSEL</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Donald A. Dressel, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the St. Clement Catholic Church, Navarre, Ohio. His final resting place will be St. Clement's Cemetery.
